Roles and what each one can see
The four built-in roles, and building a custom one.
Every team member has one of four built-in roles: Owner, Dispatcher, Accountant, or Technician.
An owner can do everything. A technician sees their own assigned jobs and clocks their own hours. A dispatcher manages scheduling and assignment. An accountant manages invoicing and payments without necessarily touching scheduling.
Custom roles (Settings → Roles) let you pick exactly which of the 17 permissions a role grants — useful for, say, a technician who should also be able to create estimates. Assign it from the member's profile and it overrides their built-in role's permission set. Their base role stays on file; it just isn't what determines access any more.
Permissions are enforced on the server, not just hidden in the interface — a role without invoice access can't reach invoice data by any route.
