Taking card payments on a phone
Tap to Pay status — built, not yet verified against a real tap.
Tap to Pay lets a technician collect a card payment by tapping the customer's contactless card — or their phone's Apple Pay / Google Pay — against the technician's own phone. No card reader, no separate terminal.
It rides on the same Stripe Connect account already used for online payments, built on Stripe's official Terminal SDK, so there's no second account to set up. The charge is verified server-side against Stripe before it's recorded — the mobile app reporting success is never trusted on its own.
Honest status: the full code path is built and typechecked against Stripe's own type definitions, but it has not yet been tested with a real NFC tap. That needs a one-time Apple entitlement (submitted once by us, not per business) and a physical device, both still pending. Don't plan your payment process around it until we confirm it live.
